Welcome to the world of 3D printing. With any project you complete there are always challenges that need to be addressed and solved. For the 3D printing communities out there, we heard time after time, that they were experiencing failed prints and could not figure out why.
PrintDry was developed out of solution that we were experiencing in house with our own 3D printing of foot orthotics and AFO’s (ankle foot orthotics). Our company called OLTFootcare (www.oltfoot.com) creates these items using a nylon blend of filament, and anyone who has worked with nylon filament before, already understands the issue of having moisture absorbed by the filament.
Our owner re-designed a common house hold kitchen appliance, making the compartments deeper to accept a 1KG spool of 3D printing filament and the opportunity to feed the dried filament directly from the spool to the 3D printer. He even added in a ball bearing top feeder to keep the spool spinning off filament as the printer needs it. He added a second chamber on top so that one of filament dryer can feed to two different printers at once.
We released it to the public in an online Kickstarter campaign in 2016 and the 3D printing community responded with a very supportive 310 backers and just shy of $42,000 USD in pre-order sales.
To this date our filament dryer is sold globally and is our best-selling product. Anyone who lives in a humid climate or has experience sizzling or popcorn spurting of the printing filament can benefit from our filament dryer. We have kept the design simple and work hard to keep the price point low so that every 3D printer out there can afford to own one.
Every type of printing filament can retain moisture from the air around it, and our filament dryer is easy to use, and quite affordable. So, if you are experiencing failed prints and cannot figure out why, it may be because your printing filament has moisture inside of it. Our PrintDry filament dryer can help solve this issue for you.
It can be found on our website, along with all our other PrintDry accessories at www.printdry.com, or also on Amazon.com, search for Print Dry.
